Tour Overview - 7 Days Kilimanjaro Climb Lemosho Route

The Lemosho route is thought to be the most beautiful part of the Kilimanjaro trek because it offers views from all sides of the mountain. Lemosho is a great choice for your climb because it is one of the newer routes. It is our favorite route because it has a good mix of few people, beautiful scenery, and a high chance of reaching the top. Most of our clients climb Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route, which gets great reviews from those who have done it. Our clients are very interested in Lemosho route. The climb starts at Londorossi Gate, which is 2360 meters above sea level. The way to get there is far to the west of the mountain. It then goes around Kilimanjaro to the south, passing through a beautiful rainforest where you can often see some of the most interesting animals in the area. The path keeps going up to Shira Ridge, the third peak of the mountain

Detailed Itinerary

A representative from Mangokili Adventures will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel in Arusha. There, you will spend the night, relax, and get ready for the adventures to come.

Accommodation Budget: Tulia Boutique Hotel / Forest Hill Hotel

Around 8:00 a.m., you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Lemosho gate on the western side of Kilimanjaro. After you’ve signed up, you’ll keep climbing steadily through the Lemosho glades’ forests until you reach Big Tree camp, where you’ll spend the night.

You’ll cover a lot of ground today as you walk across a plateau of grassy moorland and heather with volcanic rock formations dotted around. We will walk through Shira 1 Camp, where we can often see Kibo Peak floating in the clouds, on our way to Shira 2, which is our final destination. As we move toward Shira 1, we gain a fair amount of height, and parts of the path are pretty steep. As you get closer to Shira 2, you’ll be able to see the Northern Ice Fields from the west side of the mountain and get some interesting views of Kibo. Our slow climb across the moors of the Shira Plateau will help us get used to the altitude, and we’ll get to see some great views.

10.3 miles (16.5 km) have been traveled.

Approximately 9–11 hours.

Included in the price are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Your hike starts with a climb that gives you a wide view of the area. You’ll walk into the climate zone of the upland desert and along lava ridges under the glaciers of the Western Breach. You will reach the clear peak of the Lava Tower (4640 m), which is our day’s highest point and a great place to eat lunch. In the afternoon, we make a steep descent to our camp for the night, which is at the bottom of the Great Barranco Valley (3960 m), sheltered by tall cliffs but with a wide view of the plains below.

  • The distance traveled was 10 km/6.2 mi
  • It should take about 7 hours.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.

We start our day by going down into the Great Barranco, which is a big gorge. Then, we climb steeply up the Great Barranco Wall, which separates us from the southeast slopes of Kibo. It’s not hard, but it’s a long and tiring climb over rocks. We head toward the Karanga valley by going under the Heim and Kersten glaciers. From here, it’s a steep climb up from Karanga valley to our camp for the night at 3963m, Karanga camp. Those who feel strong will go on an acclimatization hike in the middle of the afternoon up to about 4200m, then back down to camp for the night.

The distance traveled is 5.5 km/3.4 mi.

It should take about 5 hours.

Included in the price are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, we started walking to Barafu camp, which is at an altitude of 4640m. The climb will take us up bare scree slopes where there is no plant life. It’s a hard, steep walk that’s made even harder by the height. When we get to camp, we eat and rest for the afternoon to get ready for a long night and day. It’s important to stay warm and drink water. We eat dinner early and then try to get some sleep because we have to start the climb to the summit between 11pm and 12am.

  • The distance traveled was 3 km/1.9 mi

It takes about 3 hours and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We leave around midnight and walk steeply up to the glaciers at the top. We will climb scree for 4 to 5 hours, but we will gain a lot of height in a short distance. There are beautiful views. When the first sun rays hit us, we should be on the crater rim at Stella Point (5739m). We are surrounded by spectacular ice cliffs inside the crater, and the views of jagged Mawenzi peak and the rest of the area are breathtaking. We walk for another hour to reach the top, Uhuru Peak (5895m). We start our descent by going back to Stella Point. From there, we go down the scree slope and track to Barafu Camp for breakfast. After that, we go down to Millennium Camp for a long, well-deserved rest.

13.4 km (8.3 mi) have been traveled.

12–15 hours is about how long it will take.

Included in the price are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We take a gentle walk through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where we finish up with park paperwork and get certificates that you can hang up with pride. Then, our vehicles pick us up and take us back to the hotel in Moshi or Arusha, where you can take a hot shower.

The distance covered was about 12.1 km (7.5 mi), and it took about 6 hours.

Spend the night at Lindrin lodge or Park view hotel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.

After the Kilimanjaro trek, you have the rest of the day to relax before your flight home. Depending on what time your flight leaves, you could go to Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport. If you want to keep exploring Tanzania, you can add on safari, Zanzibar, and other things.

Breakfast is included.

Kilimanjaro Hike and visit of Tarangire and Ngorongoro Nationalpark We spent around 10 days with Mangokili adventures doing both a hike up Kilimanjaro, along the Lemosho route and visiting Ngorongoro and Tarangire Nationalpark. The hike up Kilimanjaro was amazing and the support we received by the team in terms of service and kindness was great, we really loved it. Also the trips to the Nationalparks were great and very interesting.

Very nice! We were a group of 3 friends who climbed the Kilimanjaro with the Lemosho-Route in 6 days (normally 7 days) and did a 2-day safari afterwards. From the point of interest to the actual engagement, every worry and question was taken care of by Mangokili Adventures. The organization worked out super well. We had 2 great guides, 11 great porters for the Kilimanjaro-hike and 1 great guide for the safari. Especially good for trips with a budget. We paid in total about 2.400 USD.Super content.

The tour was great with a very friendly guide and driver, the accommodation was outstanding The tour was great with a very friendly guide and driver, the accommodation was outstandingThe communication was great, always replied to our questions. The driver was good and even helped us spot animals on the safari while driving, the guide was easygoing and replied to any of our questions. The accommodation should be displayed as premium, we did not expect to arrive at a toilet inside the room, a bottle of water to brush your teeth, soap and clean towels provided, amazing food and chef, a lounge to chill and take beers/drinks. Pictures of the accommodation and food should be displayed as it was way more than we expected given the surroundings
