Tour Overview - 6 Days Marangu Route

The “Coca-Cola” or “tourist” route up Kilimanjaro is also called the “Marangu Route.” It is the easiest and shortest route to the summit.
This is also the only route with sleeping huts with solar lights and comfortable beds at every campsite. The huts are shared, and each bunk has a pillow and mattress made of sponge.

There are 60 beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. The two huts at the bottom have bathrooms and running water. At the last camp, there are toilets for both men and women, but they are not very nice. Meals are shared in dining huts by all climbing groups, which are often made up of people from many different countries. This makes for a lively and fun atmosphere. At the huts, you might be able to buy soft drinks, bottled water, and beer. Bring small Tanzanian bills to purchase these items (prices increase with elevation) (prices increase with elevation).
Most people do this route in 5 days, but it takes 6 days to help people get used to the altitude. You can rest at Horombo or climb the small peak of Mawenzi on the extra day.

Day by day itinerary

You’ll meet our Mangokili Adventures driver at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), and he’ll take you to your hotel in Moshi town. There, you’ll meet your guide, who will tell you about your upcoming hike and check your gear to make sure you have everything you need for the mountain. You can rent the gear you forgot on this day.
Spend the night at Lindrin lodge or Park view hotel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.

You will be picked up from your Moshi lodge after breakfast and taken to the Marangu gate. Once all the paperwork is done, you can start your hike, and soon you’ll be walking through the dense rainforest. As you walk to the Mandara Hut, you might see some primates and some beautiful plants. After a well-deserved break, your guide can take you to the Maundi Crater, which has a great view of the interior of Kenya.
• We’ve gone 8.3 km/5.2 min.
• It should take about 5 hours
• Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.

Breakfast is the first meal of the day. Shortly after you leave Mandara Hut, you will reach the timberline and then enter the heath and moor zone. About 4 to 6 hours later, you’ll see the 3700m-high Horombo Hut. You will have a great view of Mawenzi, Kibo, and the wide plain of the Masai steppe from the hut.
• The distance traveled was 12.5 km/7.8 mi
• It should take about 9 hours
• Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.

Day of rest at Horombo Hut but your guides will with you to see the zebra rocks and the good view of mawenzi for the purpose of acclimatization so that you can adopt the mountain condition on better success to reach to the summit.
Included; breakfast, lunch, and dinner

The stage for today is long and hard. The well-built trail goes past the “Last Water Point” and then the “saddle.” This plateau, which has almost no plants, connects the main summit, Kibo, to Mawenzi. The goal for today is the Kibo Hut, which usually takes about 5 to 6 hours to reach. Here, you’ll eat dinner early in the evening and then go to bed early because the night will be short.
The route is about 9.5 kilometers (5.9 miles) long and should take about 7 hours. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.

Today is “The Big Day,” the stage at the top. Around midnight, you will start your final climb, which will be long and hard. As the Hans Meyer Cave at 5220m is passed, the climb goes up slowly but surely. At sunrise, you will reach Gillman’s Point (5681m), which is the edge of Kilimanjaro’s crater. Here, the sun will slowly start to warm up the land. You’ll quickly forget how cold it was last night, and after another 1–2 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Uhuru Peak at 5895m. When you get back to Kibo Hut, you’ll find a warm meal waiting for you. After a 1- to 2-hour break, you’ll head back down to Horombo Hut.

The distance covered is 22 km (13.7 mi), and it should take between 12 and 15 hours. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.

The last stage goes through the heath and moor zone to the Mandara Hut (2700m), where a warm lunch is waiting. Soon, you’ll pass the tropical rainforest again, and after 6 hours of walking, you’ll be back at the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1860m). When you’re done with your mountain guides, you’ll take a short transfer back to your hotel in Moshi. Once you get there, you can take a warm shower to relax and celebrate reaching the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
• Distance traveled: 12.9 miles or 20.8 km
It takes about 8 hours and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Overnight at Lindrin lodge or Park view hotel

After the Kilimanjaro trek, you have the rest of the day to relax before your flight home. Depending on what time your flight leaves, you could go to Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport. If you want to keep exploring Tanzania, you can add on safari, Zanzibar, and other things.

Kilimanjaro Hike and visit of Tarangire and Ngorongoro Nationalpark We spent around 10 days with Mangokili adventures doing both a hike up Kilimanjaro, along the Lemosho route and visiting Ngorongoro and Tarangire Nationalpark. The hike up Kilimanjaro was amazing and the support we received by the team in terms of service and kindness was great, we really loved it. Also the trips to the Nationalparks were great and very interesting.

Very nice! We were a group of 3 friends who climbed the Kilimanjaro with the Lemosho-Route in 6 days (normally 7 days) and did a 2-day safari afterwards. From the point of interest to the actual engagement, every worry and question was taken care of by Mangokili Adventures. The organization worked out super well. We had 2 great guides, 11 great porters for the Kilimanjaro-hike and 1 great guide for the safari. Especially good for trips with a budget. We paid in total about 2.400 USD.Super content.

The tour was great with a very friendly guide and driver, the accommodation was outstanding The tour was great with a very friendly guide and driver, the accommodation was outstandingThe communication was great, always replied to our questions. The driver was good and even helped us spot animals on the safari while driving, the guide was easygoing and replied to any of our questions. The accommodation should be displayed as premium, we did not expect to arrive at a toilet inside the room, a bottle of water to brush your teeth, soap and clean towels provided, amazing food and chef, a lounge to chill and take beers/drinks. Pictures of the accommodation and food should be displayed as it was way more than we expected given the surroundings
